Stefanie Marshall recognized with NDAA 2011 Young Alumni Award
The Notre Dame Alumni Association has selected Stefanie Marshall of the ND Columbus Club to receive the 2011 Young Alumni Award. Stefanie has been awarded the honor for her outstanding “contributions to the Notre Dame Club of Columbus and to her community” according to Stephanie Mola, NDAA Young Alumni Program Manager.
Stefanie graduated from Notre Dame in 2005. Originally from the Columbus area, she immediately joined the ND Club. In February 2008 Stefanie started working as a co-coordinator for the Club’s Young Alumni. Shortly thereafter she assumed the Young Alumni Chair. Unemployed or Under-employed?
I’m a 1961 ND graduate, and long time member of the club. Since I am retired from the HR field I have been volunteering with a non-profit group which seeks to help professionals in their respective job searches. The organization’s name is 40+ of Central Ohio ( no reference to age!). If you know of any experienced or recent ND graduates who might benefit from such an organization have them go to www.fortyplusoh.org for more details. If anyone would like to discuss their individual employment situation, this organization, or related issues please have them call me at 614-889-9258 in Dublin.
Thank you,
Steve Bennison, ‘61

Get Involved
The ND Club of Columbus is always in need of volunteers. Here's another opportunity to get involved.
My name is Mike Terry, ND '61.
I live here in Columbus and have been working with our Muslim
refugees/immigrants for the past few years as an ESL teacher.
We used
to get some help from Franklin County through Columbus State's Language Institute,
but the recession knocked that out a couple of years ago. I continue to volunteer
at Somali Senior & Family Services center at 3248 Cleveland Ave. But we
can't find enough volunteer teachers. Classes are Mon. - Thur., 9:30 - 12:00, 12:30 - 3:00, and 4:00 - 6:00. The
students are all adults, mostly women from Somalia, Morocco. Senegal. Very
kind, respectful, and eager to learn. No special skills are required other than
a knowledge of basic English, an openness to the Muslim community, and a desire
to help. If any ND grads (or others) in the area who might be
interested, please let me know by e-mail: mterrynd310@yahoo.com or call me. 614-886-6566. I
can provide more information about what we're doing. Thanks very much.
