Columbus ACE Fellowship
|
Columbus is proud to be home to a regional ACE Advocates for Catholic Schools group! About ACE and ACE Advocates for Catholic Schools Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) is a two-year service program offering college graduates the opportunity to serve as full-time teachers in under-resourced Catholic schools across the southern United States. The ACE Fellowship began in 2004 as a direct response to a challenge from the late John Cardinal O’Connor to build on the momentum of the ACE program in order to form a lay apostolic movement in support of Catholic schools. While the Fellowship inititally included graduates of ACE and similar programs, it has now expanded to all men and women interested in sustaining and strengthening Catholic education.
The Fellowship empowers its members to deepen and integrate their personal, professional, and spiritual lives through continued formation and a lived commitment to Catholic education. This movement ambitiously cultivates dynamic leaders, innovative strategies, and enthusiastic witness, to provide re-energizing and lasting service to Catholic schools. The Fellowship has a four-fold goal in support of Catholic education:
The name of the program was changed in 2010 to ACE Advocates for Catholic Schools to better reflect the program's mission. Columbus ACE Advocates Members meet regularly for meals, fellowship, and prayer. During the 2010-2011 school year, they plan to support the Catholic Diocese of Education in a variety of ways while continuing to build a core group of individuals passionate about Catholic education in Columbus. During the 2009-2010 school year, they hosted a fundraiser for the S.P.I.C.E. program and organized two cultural field trips for middle school students from St. Mary's school in German Village.
